The girlfriend and I went to Algonquin Park for a few nights, originally for a salamander work shop that the park was running. We thought while we're there, why not stay an extra night or two, and adventure on. So here are a few pictures from our adventures...
It's mid-December and it feels like late spring out. Today reached a high of 14 out, and it has never felt nicer to run in the "winter" even though I made the mistake of running in a winter long-sleeve which is still too warm to wear right now.
The first generation did lack hardware what was designed nicely. You could tell function came first, and that they didn't want to use too many resources to improve its look since Microsoft was just dipping their toes into the fitness tracker market. It's nice to see the new Band have both function and design.
It's no secret that Nike and Microsoft haven't been closest (thank you, Mr. Cook), and that Nike+ offers quite the nice fitness social network that specializes in running. But now that Microsoft Health has partnered with Strava, it is possible to manually upload your runs to Nike+ with a simple trick which even carries over your heart-rate statistics in your run.

This last Saturday ended my racing year of 2014. Although I couldn't make it to my last race (MEC Fortune Fell Race) of the year today, I have accomplished more than I thought I could have this year, which makes me proud of my results and milestones that were hit. Especially with this only being my 2nd year in competitive running.
Microsoft took a bold approach with their new Band by focusing mainly on the wellness and fitness side of “smartwatches” and that brave approach is perfect. At least for someone like me.
